Kate Peters

voice and violin

Stage veteran Kate Peters began her professional career as a vocalist at the age of twelve. But with Gathering she has re-connected with her first love - the violin. Combining violin and voice is nothing new. Doing so with the same musician is much more rare. Says Bill Kahlaase of the Los Angeles Times:”She is able to communicate delicacy and strength equally well.” The Philadelphia Inquirer says that Kate Peters “has presence and personality – and a vibrant voice that could serve a song recital or a show on Broadway.”

Richard Cook

Richard has been playing and teaching Celtic Wind instruments in Southern California for over twenty years. His instruments include Scottish Highland Pipes, Irish Uilleann Pipes, Irish Wooden Flute, Irish Whistle, Bodhran, Spanish Gaita, Bulgarian Gaida, and Scottish Small Pipes. His playing has been featured in television shows and films, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Patriot Games. He can also be heard in theme park soundtracks, computer games, and hundreds of recordings.

Steve Dixon

drums

Audiences love to watch drummer Steve Dixon weave his rhythmic magic on-stage. He was once voted by a group of peers “most likely to have a great time playing” and if you’ve seen him live you know why. L.A. Jazz Scene writer Jim Santella says, “… drummer Dixon colors each tune with appropriate textures. His crisp drumstick action adds an integral voice to the formula.”

His studio work spans television, movies and records including the 1995 Universal movie "The Hunted". He has recorded with jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, saxophonists Pete Christlieb and Brandon Fields, "Yes" keyboardist Patrick Moraz, Justo Almario and "Kansas" lead vocalist John Elefante.

Vinayakram in Madras, India. Currently living in Southern California, Rusty’s career has also extended into jazz piano. He teaches South Indian percussion at San Diego State University.

Ron Kobayashi

piano

Pianist and composer Ron Kobayashi has been described as one of the hardest working and most dedicated musicians on the local scene. Steve Eddy of the Orange County Register says he “always delivers, in person and on record”. Those who know him well also know that Ron is passionate in his political views and is always willing to support a cause that he is aligned with. He has been featured on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and was a performer on the internationally distributed "Johnny Yune" television show.
